2022 Pegasus World Cup attracts commitment from major global OTT broadcasters

24th January 2022 – The $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) on Saturday, 29th January will enjoy significantly improved reach this year, with the USA’s premier entertainment and thoroughbred horseracing event to be broadcast in over 120 countries courtesy of the partnership between 1/ST, owners and operators of the Pegasus World Cup, and HBA Media.


Headlining the distribution agreements are three major global OTT and pay TV broadcasters including Eleven through their LiveNow platform (France, Germany and Italy), Disney through Star+ (Latin America) and Eclat (South-East Asia). These ground-breaking partnerships will deliver expanded reach for the event and unlock new audiences across the globe.


HBA Media have also attracted a new Chinese broadcast partner - Wasu.TV - owned by Sky Dreamworks. The digital platform (Wasu.TV) will broadcast the event into China having acquired highlights rights for the event.


A further collection of major networks will showcase the 2022 Pegasus World Cup. Alongside the host broadcaster, NBC (USA), international coverage includes:

Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) will broadcast delayed coverage to a 700+ million audience to the Indian subcontinent. LCTV, Sports Unlimited, Sports Confidential and Reuters will provide race content to news outlets across the world.


All broadcasters will be supported with an expanded suite of promotional and highlights content to help attract an engaged audience and enhanced interest in the event.


A total of seven graded-races worth $5.2 million in combined purse winnings will be offered on Pegasus Day, led by the return of the $3 million Pegasus World Cup (G1) and the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1). The two feature races will co-headline the Saturday, 29thJanuary race card at 1/ST ’s Gulfstream Park in South Florida which is being distributed to a global audience through a 90-minute bespoke on-air package live at 16:30 local time / 21:30 GMT.


The defending champion ‘Knicks Go’ will seek to become the first repeat event winner following his success in 2021. However, the Korea Racing Authority-owned horse faces stiff competition – the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile Champion ‘Life is Good’ headlines an 18-strong list of contenders to the crown in the $3million Pegasus World Cup Invitational.
